Need HELP!!ANy ideas?

Hi my car will run fine and no problems for a week sometimes, then some nites ill be city driving, and the car will start idling like crap, like almost dieing and my battery light will click on right before its about to die then click off, ive replaced the battery, the connections are tight, replaced spark plugs and wires, distibutor cap and rotor. Ive even had it die at a stoplight before or as i slow up and i have to put it in park and it starts right back up, but lately ive had to rev it a bit to keep it runnin when it does this...it will do this and then i turn it off cause i get pissed and restart it and the car runs normal.....Any Ideas?

Fuel Injection, I believe carbs way more reliable though

ya, does the fuel injection act up like that, like its almost sporadic....

when the car is dieing does it sputter or just cut out? and when that batt light comes on, is the batterie low, or not making a connection? also, if its dieing wile running because of lack of spark, check that alt-a-ma-gator. we need to find out if its electricol or fuel

just cuts out....like it has a really low idle like its gonna die any min and then i was at a light once and it was being like that and it just died, no sputtering just died, so then i started it right back up acted the same, parked it in a parking lot turned it off waited a min turned it back on...it was fine but like i cant take a car liek that on a trip or anything ya know?

it just dies.....it runs perfectly on the freeway...then i hit stop and go traffic and after prob 20-30 mins,sometimes longer sometimes not at all...it starts idling like gonna die and comes back to life a bit, but a real weak idle..i was thinkin could it be the distributor even though i replaced the cap and rotor, maybe it just gets weak ? or maybe a loose wire and if so wheres the wire i need to check ? but one nite it was doing it and i stopped at a stoplight and it just died, put it in park turned the key started right back up with the weak idle, drove it to the parking lot, turned it off...i was kinda upset hehe, gave it like 2 mins to cool down and started it and it was fine! I dont get it! when it was doing it i popped the hood and tried moving wires around thinkin it was a short or a weak connection and no change in the idle.... i dont know....

A fuel pressure test might be a good start.

Might want to check the EGR valve. It might be sticking open. I would guess the battery light is coming on right before it dies because of the low idle speed of the alternator. Another thing to check is your ground strap from the engine to the firewall. It's a braided uninsulated, flat strap about a 1/4 in. wide from the back of your engine to the firewall. I recently read in another post of a guy that also had a problem simular to yours and he found a loose ground wire to his body that was under the back seat cushion on the drivers side of the car. He stated that the screw was loose and after re-doing it, all was good.

maybe you got a bad tank of gas.sounds like water in the gas to me.run the current tank down pretty low,get a can of gas dry,and add it to a fresh tank and see if that helps.it takes a little while to work,but if the problem gradually goes away.......
