CarQuest LT4 starters???
CarQuest LT4 starters???
I'm really strapped for cash and in a hurry and can't wait for GMpartsDirect.
If I get a reman starter for a 1996 LT4 Corvette, will I get the correct mini starter or do they not sell reman mini starters? I mean will they just give me an old school starter that will fit or what?
Anyone know? I need one quick!
Thanks!

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Should fit.
You may not enjoy the core charge; but who knows. Just a warning. You might find that it's cheaper to go with an "aftermarket" mini-starter.

Yeah you were right, I called and they want $209 PLUS a $79 core. GMpartsDirect is only $260.76 WITH shipping and no core charge!
Dang it, I needed it like now though, lol. My starter is getting mad heat soak, it's the original

Alex, I would buy a 10455709 starter from www.autopartsgiant.com for $185.43 shipped. There's no core charge on it and it's new, not remanufactured.
It's the LT1/LT4 Corvette starter.
I just remembered you're in CA, so there will probably be state sales tax involved.

Too late
I already ordered the new one from GMpartsDirect.com
$260 shipped wasn't bad
Hey are all of the bolts and connectors going to be the same and bolts right up? Anything else I need to buy?
Dang dude it seems like in every one of my posts you reply with an answer. I wonder how many mods ahead of me you are, lol.

Man, you have a quick trigger when it comes to spending your hard-earned money on your GTA.
The longer bolt may need to be changed a slightly shorter variety. I'm not sure on this as I'm waiting for less rainy weather to do some mods such as going to a L98 Corvette starter (the earlier version 10455702).
The '92 F-body long bolt is supposedly a 4 11/16". The Corvette bolt is 4 21/64" according to Sallee Chevrolet's site. ARP's short/long starter bolt set for LT1 engines (430-3505) has a 4.450" bolt as the long bolt. A 3/8-4.4450" starter bolt is common and can be bought at any parts store for about $1.
Actually my parts pile is ridiculously tall. I am actually a few mods behind you, but we have similar tastes and very similar cars.

Had to spend it quick to get it fixed. I've been putting off the upgrade for years and now it's all catching up to me
We have a great nut and bolt store in town that has EVERYTHING, I'll go there for the 3/8-4.450" (or 4 21/64") starter bolt tomorrow on my lunch break after I replace one of my Firehawk WideOval tires that just got a nail in the sidewall
Thanks for the help! We're gonna have to trade pics so I can see your ride. When I shutdown my site (www.TransAmGTA.com) all mine went offline.

Re: CarQuest LT4 starters???
Thought I'd revive this old thread of mine lol.
This 10455709 denso starter I ordered has worked great over the years but now it's not retracting fully and the gears sometimes tap against the flexplate teeth upon acceleration or bumps and stuff. VERY annoying and I don't want to further damage my new flexplate after my recent tranny R&R.
www.autopartsgiant.com as mentioned does currently have them for $127-$165 but as a reman, same denso brand though. I'll NEVER do Bosch again, I always go out of my way to find NippiDenso components. The current 10455709 starter I ordered brand new from GMpartsDirect in fact does have the NippiDenso components. They list it for $314 now though, OUCH!
Anyway, I'd rather not buy reman but new. I of course have a core. Any idea where the best place to get it would be?!

Re: CarQuest LT4 starters???
are you looking specifically for an ac delco unit? cause kragen has a lifetime warranty lt4 starter for $130+core but they took my stock starter as a core. also came with a 36 month roadside assistance package valued for a $50 tow.
