Nothing wrong with the ones that are on it.... assuming of course that there's nothing wrong with them.

Seriously, the castings you should have (081) are entirely adequate for that power level; assuming of course that it will be carbed.

I'd suggest nitrous then.

I have no other suggestions as to how to get that much power out of a 305 that's limited to TPI. I can make a few suggestions on how to get some more power out of it; but 300 HP is not bloody likely.

If your goal is 300 HP, that's relatively easy to do with a 350; and increasing the bore by changing the block probably would be about the cheapest way to take what you've got, to 300 HP.

350 HP out of a carbed 400 is almost unavoidable. I would be embarrassed to build a carbed 400 and not get that out of it. I don't think I'd even admit that if it ever happened, not even to my closest friends.

i think my truck came with under 300 stock, but its a smog era wonder

anything but a 283, 305, 307 better have over 300 if your building it, and those can all have 300 with very little effort

well what is a good head/cam for a 400 that could be fairly inexpensive?? also is there any FI systems that can be had for a 400 that will produce some power and not cost much??
