Gas Smell
So when I drive the car just a couple of blocks, everything is fine. When I drive to work and home, not a great distance but a lot of stop and go and sitting in trafiic, I start to smell a heavy gas odor.
I have traced everyline with my hands after coming home on Friday and can find no evidence of liquid gas leaking anywhere, including the injectors.
The smell seems strongest at the front of the engine compartment in front of the drive up by the headlight... I know there is a vapor cannister, do they go bad?? I checked all the vacuum hoses going into it and they all seem fine.
Thanks for any suggestions..

Actually i had the same strange problem in my 91 rs, it could be one of many things but for me it was the gastank. You will have to check the recall but i believe it applies to 92 f-body also. The filler necks were soldered improperly and can leak fumes through little pinholes in these years. The closest chevy dealer HAS TO replace it free of charge because of the recall, and then the smell magically disappears.
