runnin a smaller belt at the track..worth it?

ive herd of people runnin shorter belts and only runnin the water pump at the track....who has done this and how much did you improve...is it worth it?

I'd say its not worth the trouble. At best you might see a tenth increase. But even that an optimistic estimate.

Computers like full voltage, as do most aftermarket ignition systems. Keeping the alternator running is a very good idea.

The water pump sucks up a lot more power than the PS & alt. Running an electric water pump will take more off the ET than not running anything but the belt-driven pump.

We are talking 1-2hp here nothing major, about .05%. So it doesn't, matter at all. Just like under drive pulleys, its a gimmick.

I freakin rocks above 4000 rpm. It's great for what i want it to do. It's fun on the street and handles on the auto-X course. I built it for a large powerband so i wouldn't have to shift on the auto-X course.

I will let you and everbody know how much better it is soon. As soon as it stops raining for acouple of hours....

I'm running a comp cams extreme 262 (XS262S) solid mechanical lifter cam.

262 268 224 230 .477 .488 and i'm running 1/6 ratio roller rockers

The 305 is good enough for what i want it to do, go fast around corners.

I'm running a comp cams extreme 262 (XS262S) solid mechanical lifter cam.

262 268 224 230 .477 .488 and i'm running 1/6 ratio roller rockers

The 305 is good enough for what i want it to do, go fast around corners.

who did the tunin on your motor...i need to get my prom worked on but the only person i can find is in idaho falls....
