Starter wire help

Starter wire help
ok, so im putting my starter back on (from like a year ago) i got a few different wires that could go to it.
on the bigger thread i have
-two red wires merged into one loop connector
-a skinny black one on a loop connector
-and a big black one with a slightly different loop connector like it has a tab
so im asking if i have the wrong things on (and where they should be if they shouldnt), which should be on there, or if im just way off in left feild touching myself while the other team keeps poppin flyballs in my zone.
any help is appreciated.

Big red ones the main feed and the small black one would be the 12v switched source from the ignition to activate the solenoid.
Not sure why/how you have a big black wire there though...
Where does it come from? Maybe its the main ground from the battery that got disconnected?

big black/red stripe (I think) wire goes to the main terminal on the starter solenoid. There are also multiple red (or sort of orange) wires with fusable links that connect with the main wire as well on that terminal. The small black wire with a purple stripe goes to the small terminal on the solenoid nearest to the engine block. This provides +12V to the solenoid coil to engage the starter.

The ones with BIG rings go on the BIG terminal; and the one with a SMALL ring goes on the SMALL terminal!

If your starter has 2 small terminals, use the one labelled "S"; not the one labelled "R". The "R" terminal is for points-type ignition systems, it bypasses the ballast resisitor when in Start.
None of them go to "ground", and none go to the terminal where the motor lead that comes up out of the motor body, attaches to the solenoid.

The ones with BIG rings go on the BIG terminal; and the one with a SMALL ring goes on the SMALL terminal!

i have 4 wires the little black one goes to the small stud.(these three COULD go to the big stud) a red one thats two wires connected together, a black one thats skinny and a huge thick black one (that im holding on to)

Huge thick black = positive battery cable (follow it up there and make sure)
Small ones with big terminals = battery feeds to various parts of the car
Wire with small terminal = "S" terminal wire (small terminal)
Put the ones with the BIG terminals on the BIG terminal, and the one with the SMALL terminals on the SMALL terminal.
See, I told you it was rocket science!

I just want you to know that you should believe what you see, that the evidence in your hands isn't that hard to figure out. Don't outsmart yourself, just do the obvious. It's really easy to figure out. You've got all the clues you need, sitting right in front of you. Don't be afraid. YOU can do it. It's within YOUR power to work the puzzle. Is that so bad?

you were telling me what size loop connecters go on which(which in and of itself is an insult), maybe i didnt make myself clear i was asking if all of the 3 went on there because i thought only two were supposed to,
and you come...THE BIG ONES GO ON THE BIG STUD DURRRRRRR! well obviously, ****.
maybe you should spend less time away from your computer and learn some respect for others.

Now boys, there's no need for bickering here.
In the good ol' days, there were two small solenoid terminals - get the two small lugs mixed up and on the wrong terminal, nothing would happen when you went to the "start" position. Of course, in those days, there were only two large lug wires, unlike the growing crowd on there these days. And, if you get a replacement solenoid or starter/solenoid, sometimes it includes the now-unused small terminal.
Personally, being in the rocket business, I often find my work less confusing than automotive wiring. Mostly because rockets have good schematics, while auto shop manuals often fall short in that area.

borsty, this forum is for helping people, this thread can help more then just you in the future. If you got it working correctly, post what you did do, so that in the future it can help others who are searching the archives. There's nothing I hate more then finding the thread that's EXACTLY what I need to know, but the guy never mentioned how he fixed the problem, so it's no help to me.
