I may be wrong but I don't think you can get a PF25 anymore. Now its a PF1218 wich is a little smaller I think.

At last check, the PF25 and PF1218 are both available. The PF1218 is actually larger.

You can still buy them each or by the case:

The PF-25 is the small filter to begin with.

The full-size one as far back as I can remember (well before the 80s I can assure you) used to be the PF-35, which no longer exists. The 1218 replaced it.

I have seen filters used on cars from the quik oil change places that are half the size as the ones i normally run (same size as a PH30 from fram but not a fram). They fit in the car nicely (all accept the z28. that is a pita to get back out due to a shelid that is around it on 3 sides.) But the one that was on it after i bought it and had a valvoline change the oil was half the size. so i dunno if the ones in the 80's were bigger, or if places are just using / listing smaller filters for the applications

My TTA runs a 1218 on the 3.8(supposedly this was going to be phased out, but now it looks like the renigged on it for at least right now)

The latest correct delco number for our cars is a 454.(my gta and formula)

Yes its a little smaller filter, I was dumb and used it on my car.

I was even looking at it and going damn I bet the 1218 would fit. lol

Although I think when I test fit a 1218 a long time ago I wasnt quite comfy with the way it hung even with the oil pan and was worried it would get hit in a worst case scenario.

later

They havent 'downsized', theirs just 2 size filters that fit.

Its up to you which one you run, if youve got the room in there run a long filter. If youve got header tubes in the way like me run the short filter.
