AC compressor doesn't turn on. What are the possibilities?
The compressor doesn't turn on, not even intermitantly. I'm trying to figure out what could cause it and how to test each one so I'm not just throwing parts at it.
No refrigerant (depress schrader valve and see if anything comes out, I don't have a gauge)
Bad Wireing (isn't their a way to hotwire the compressor?)
Bad Compressor (?)
A switch?

This is common in systems which have lost charge. You can test this without releasing more refrigerant but temporaroly installing a jumper in the connector for the low pressure cutout switch.

Start the engine, set the controls to cold and A/C, install the jumper, and see if the compressor clutch pulls in. If so, remove the jumper quickly so that you don't run the compressor too long without oil charge.
If the clutch does not pull in with the jumper installed, remove the electrical connector at the clutch and check for 12V across the terminals in the connector. If voltage is present, you may have a failed clutch coil. If no voltage is present, you likely have a switch or control problem upstream.

Thank you very much for the help, it's greatly apreciated.
I did what Vader suggested the low pressure switch didn't start the compressor.
The connector had 12v.
But when I reinstalled the connector (engine running) the compressor kicked on for a second. Wiggle the connector around a bit and the AC is running. It runs, will shut off, jiggle the connector and it's back on. Clean and bend the prong and it's back in buisness.
It is cycling on and off though, I'm guessing that's just a matter of a low charge though.
