gas smell from AC
Yesterday, I was riding around upstate NJ in my 91 Trans Am. I was poping in and out of Used Car dealers looking for a new grocery getter (to keep the miles off my 'bird). My father was with me, so I left the car running for several hours as I left to look at cars, and he sat in the 'bird with the A/C on. Well, when I came back, I smelt a strong gas smell coming from the A/C. I had the fan on the highest setting with the A/C on the MAX setting.
My question is, what broke, and how do I fix it?
Also, I had my A/C recharged and converted to R134A less than a year ago. (I've put less than 3,000 miles on the car since then.) The A/C used to FREEZE me. Now, its just a little cool. Is there a leak? Or am I supposed to have to recharge yearly?
Thanks!
Bill
