help with removing left valve cover

I am trying to remove the left valve cover and there is like a filter in the way that wont let me pull it out. I removed everything but that and I still can't do it. Can someone tell me how they did theirs. My car is a 1992 Firebird. Thanks!

That looks like the A.I.R. system check valve.

I cut my A.I.R. out.

That is threaded onto the exhaust manifold. It should be either a 1" or 1 1/8" wrench. Spray the threads with lots of WD-40 before you try to remove it.

It's the only way I know how to do it. PB worked a little better for me than WD-40 did though.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Support the tubing with another wrench while you reef on the check valve; otherwise you'll just end up trashing the whole thing. You'll find that once it breaks loose, it will come right off. Put a wrap or 2 of Teflon tape on the threads to keep it from being such a PITA in the future.

There's prolly 2 of those in your way yah? Just do as the other guy said, use 2 adjustable wrenches on either side, you'll prolly also have to actually bend those things to get the valve cover back in. Also, is your heater core valve above that cover, if so you no doubt gotta remove that, before you do drain coolant below the thermostat or you'll have coolant go into your motor like I did. You can also go on and take off that filter thing, the base should have only 2 screws that attach it to the AIR pump. I think there's a gasket too but I don't think mine survived and I don't have one on.
