i'm thinking a bad connection or a spark plug wire on backwards if you took them off the cap

Do NOT use dielectric grease under the module, use the right stuff, thermal heatsink compound. Many of the box store modules come with the dielectric crap. What you want is the white or silver colored stuff.
Wells part # SL-203. And make sure the parts boys give you both tubes in the box, lately I've had the parts boys pulling out one tube from the box and trying to charge me the full price. It should be two tubes in the Wells box, IIRC blue and white box.

it's possible that you broke the plug wire inside the insulation by moving things around.
also, check and recheck firing order...it's an easy one to screw up.

Same thing happen to me, turned out that while I was back there, one of the vacume lines (rubber) broke. I replaced the old line and all is well. I found the vacume leak by opening the hood while the engine was running. Found the leak quickly, it was hissing real bad.

I hope you didn't get a case of cease-fire.
And as I mentioned, don't use dielectric grease, it's not meant for that application, but if you have a choice between that and nothing, don't go with nothing.

Cease-fire is another name, for an all too common condition, of cross-fire.
As for what it could be.... Were the plugs wired properly before? I say this because I have come across quite a few cars where the firing order is shifted due to idiots installing the dizzy.
Did you check the timing? Did you verify #1 TDC again? Sure you didn't poke it in on #6 fire? (coil in cap?) If so did you make sure you had the ground strap in there? You can always have the module tested. I'd also chase all the wires back there and see if anything didn't come loose farther down, etc. Good luck!

well, if you had to take the dizzy cap off, you probably turned the dizzy to get the hold downs off...this would totally screw up the timing.

it doesn't matter if the hold down bolt is loosened or not, if you turned the distributor to get to the back hold down latches on the cap, then turned it back after reinstallation of the cap (which you posted you did a few times) then the likely hood that you got the distributor back in the same spot is pretty slim. what happens is you move the body of the distributor, which moves the cap. that moves the terminals inside the cap in relation to where they ought to be struck by the rotor....thus your timing being off.
