Its been awhile since i looked at a v6 but if I remember correctly the coil has a square 4 prong connector disconnect it, turn the key and check for voltage going to the coil with a mutimeter. if you have voltage connect the connector (while the key if off so you dont get shocked) then check the other two by trying to wiggle the mutimeter lead into the back of it if you can if not you can slightly pierce the wire with the lead and read voltage then

check for power to the coil, the pink wire going to the cap(coil on external cars) should have 12 volts...

If that checks out, remove the module, take it to an autoparts store and have it checked, and reinstall with heatsink grease(thick white grease only!!!!)

If that checks out, replace the coil, they're like $10, big whoopty dooo... you could have worse problems...

If the coil doesn't do anything, you need a new pickup...

there are only a few parts to an ignition system, once you understand it, they are very easy to diagnose...

YOur worst case senario, would be broekn, or fallen off timing chain. I have worked on a 4.3 with the timing chain completely off, and the crank spun freely, and there was no spark, funny how that happens eh? Well he needed a bunch of new stuff, heads redone and the whole shibang...

Prey to the car gods for forgiveness from this....

wait a sec, you said you had spark at the coil? why are you checking for a pickup? the coil only shoots when the module tells it to, and the pickup tells the module when a cylinder is at TDC...

How did you test for spark at the coil? did you do the neighborly thing and borrow her kid to hold his hand at the coil wire while you spun it over?

if the coil has 12+ going to it, its powered, it stores energy, when the module is told a cylinder is at TDC ready for spark the module tells the coil to let loose, and it does.

call autozone and ask if they have part number dr132 in stock, if so, its $12.67!
