What oil do you recommend?

I recently purchased a 1989 GTA with the 5.7L V8. It has 37,000 miles on it and I am getting ready for the first oil change. Any recommendations on brand/viscosity/etc.? Also, what filter is recommended? Any brands of oil/oil filters to avoid?

Thanks!

John Grist

Did you see that on Hot Rod TV?

Royal Purple is pretty good. But it's also pretty expensive. I use Mobil 1. And whats wrong with FRAM oil filters?!?!

FRAM filters are absolutely garbage. Open one, you'll see the horrible design flaws.
