crank shaft bolt

hey i need to know what size bold i have on my crank pulley. all my tools got stolen and i trying to rebuild this 82 LG4 camaro motor i found. can someone help.

Then yeah, sofakingdom nailed it right on the head then... 7/16" 20 thread 5/8" hex head. Can be found brandnew in a kit with washer and spacer also grade 8 for $7 at autozone.

As a little precaution, buy a bolt that will bottom out or nearly bottom out in the crankshaft. The bolts that you buy usually barely start to grab when you are tightening them. Trust me, I have stripped out a crank bolt before.

You don't use the damper bolt to install the damper. You use a damper installation tool to install the damper. Then you remove the tool and install the retaining bolt.

Ditto, Spend the money on a nice ARP unit with a ton of thread which will thread into the snout a good distance.

It's funny we are going off on a tangent about installing a harmonic balancer bolt but he only wanted to know the size.... micro management at it's best
