FUEL ISSUES

Hello,
I am writing because my car has been out of commission for a while now and I finally have the $$ to get it fixed now the problem that I am having is that the car has been run once a week for the past 2 years just to keep the battery charged and to keep the engine from getting messed up but now I made a stupid mistake - I have been very busy at work and I asked a family member to start the car for me and allow it to run for 5 minutes but the bone head let the car run out of gas - I have added gas to it - roughly 7 gallons but I can not get the car to start - Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated -
Here are the cars specs:
92 Chevy RS Camaro 305 TBI V8
Everything except the exhaust is stock

Thanks

Maybe try replacing your fuel filter and give it another shot. When it ran dry maybe it picked up some crud in the bottom of the tank?

The 7 gallons that you put in the tank is plenty.Do you have fuel pressure?I would start by checking this with a fuel pressure gauge.

I too would start here. You can rent a fule pressure tester and if you have anything below 10psi you will need a new pump (assuming that a TBI pump is already present).

I would also change the fuel filter as mentioned above. Any sludge/funk that may be present on the bottom of your tank will be picked up with the last bit of fuel and may have clogged the filter. If you have an old fuel pump than running it dry may have been the straw that broke the camels back. Fuel pumps can over heat when the tank is run dry and if your pump was old it may have given up the ghost.

Being an OLD shade tree mechanic that I am.... and not knowing that much of the computer junk in cars these day.... I would shoot the intake with Ether (starting fluid) and see if it runs.... but again.... thats an old test.....

It is still a good idea. You can determine right away if you have a fuel problem.

Running -

I had the car running for a minute after putting a bit of fuel carb but it only ran long enough to burn off that fuel

Did you check your fuses??? Also check to see if you can hear your fuel pump.... Sounds like your having the same problem I am having and I am getting ready to pull the fuel tank and see why the fuel pump isnt pumping...

turn your key on and off a few times listening to the pump build pressure... Ive replaced my fuel filter twice in one year. and have drained the fuel lines like 4 times, Just tell us if you can hear the fuel pump kick on..

Fuel Issues

Ok after shooting the intake with starting fluid the engine kiks on for a few seconds but after the starting fluid burns off the engine stops.
I am thinking it may be a clogged fuel filter.
Does anyone have a diagram for where the fuel filter is? I know it is under the back end near the driver side but want a more exact for this car so I dont waste any extra time searching

Look under the car in front of the drivers side tire, it's kind of hard to miss the filter.

the filter is behind the rear driver passenger seat.. under the car of course.
