fuel filter removal
i did a search with no results, i know theres a billion fuel filter threads so my mistake if this have been asked/answered recently is there any special kind of wrench or tool i can get to remove the fuel filter off my 88 camaro without twisting the fuel line? it's on there pretty good, i used PB blaster as suggested on the site but i don't want to strip anything. what is the best way to remove the fuel filter without twisting fuel lines ? and if not, what is the exact wrench size needed to un do i don't want to strip them.is there any special method of removing it safely?
also the reason i'm removing my filter is because its clogged, i know the trick to disconnect the fuel pump relay and run the engine till it dies, but this is not possible in my situation, so am i just going to have to deal with the gas spraying everywhere?
thanks,
Mike

use 2 wrenches, line wrenches preferably. One to hold the filter, one to loosen the nut.
why can't you disco the fuel pump relay? theres other ways to go about that, pull the fuel pump fuse with motor running, and let it die...
or do you mean the motor isn't in running condition?
yea, I guess you can just enjoy the gush of fuel on you..

thanks, line wrech was the words i was looking for. yea the reason i am changing the filter is because theres a fuel clog (motor runs beautiful) it's just it's not getting fed enough fuel to run, so i want to change/check if its the filter that clogged because i know my fuel pump is good.
will the gas keep coming or stop to a drip once the initial splurge of gas from the lines is empty? i know it works as a natural siphon so if i rig the line up at an angle after the first splurge of gas comes out or jack the nose up... will either of these help any? i just really don't feel like drinking any gas today LOL...
thanks,
Mike

yea, the line on the tank side, tilt it upwards, or it'll just keep leaking until you tank is dry, and you'll be soaked... and when your friend lights up a smoke, you'll crap your pants in fear
so just keep the rear line up, and work quickly once it's off, you'll be fine. oh, and obviously don't smoke or anything dumb. Lay a lot of paper towel down too, and have a bucket to catch the mess too.

It'll help to remove the gas cap and take some pressure out of the system. I got an old old bath towel, and bunched it up under the filter, and held my head back as best as I could. It's not going to spew, just leak a trickle - but it'll seem like plenty at the time.

Use two line wrenches. Soak the crap out of it with PB blaster, the connections on both sides and behind the nut on the line(s) and let it sit overnight. (If you are sureof yourself, take a punch and tap each line nut reall good once after you hit it lightly with the PB and then soak it)
It'll go much easier the next day.
