i pulled a 350 motor from a car i had sitting around old rusty camaro with a 350. now im not sure what to do with it. heres what i know so far.
10054727 its a 89-93 chevy 350
has aftermarket heads
350 carb intake and q-jet
wont turn over with a wrench
blown head gasket, collant in the oil
tranny fluid brand new
was told that last rebuild was 8 months ago

what the best plan take it apart and put it in baggies and see just what is up with it. is this a good block to build? or should i find a lt1

It would definitly be worth taking apart and fixing whatever is wrong with it. The LT1 is a better enginge but you can get just as much power with the 350 for much cheaper.

take the spark plugs out and see if any oil/antifreeze comes drains out. then you can probably turn the engine over with a wrench.

yeh make sure there isn't water or oil in the combustion chambers, you won't be able to turn it over if there is. Just pull the plugs and try again.

I'd probably have a machine shop refreshen the bottom end, get some new valve train parts for your heads, get a edelbrock perf rpm a/g intake, stuff a good cam in it and call it a day.

Everyone covered the 'checkup' stuff. My advice: Have a machine shop perform whatever services are needed (surface heads / block / bore / hone / etc). Then figure out what you want. With the stock crank/rods you can go safely up to 6,000 RPM (if you have it balanced - money well spent) so with a cheap set of heads (the new Vortecs look awesome) and a nice cam you can have an easy 400hp. Good luck!

I've seen a coffee table made from a small block before, It was kinda neat, it really helps your trailer stand out from the rest. Just thought I'd suggest something different then everyone else.

I would slash the coffee table idea, and do that when you find a 302 ford .
Id build the 350, send the heads out,and block like mentioned.
These are so fun to build,
