How many people are running a 400 combo?
Well it seems these days, that every magazine has a car with a 400 in it. Maybe i just notice cause that is what i had built. Anyhow, post if you have a 400 combo, i.e. 406,415,454,etc. (sbc) And if you know your power numbers, throw them in too. here's mine. should make 500-525 hp.

Looks nice! Not sure of what you're combo is, but 500-525 HP is a TALL order....unless you're spraying. Numbers are in my sig, and that's FWHP, not RWHP.
EDIT: -And those numbers are from BEFORE I installed a retro-roller cam and MSD pro billet dist.

Not currently, but I have many times in the past. Even with super mild 400 combos low 13s on street tires was easy. Put some traction to it and 12s were a no-brainer. Get a more serious combination going and the "super mouse" can really roar.
I remember a couple years ago my brother had an 87 GTA with a very mild 400 under the hood topped by a set of Trick Flow G2 heads a TPIS MiniRam and an off-the-shelf TPIS chip. The engine finally flattened a lobe on the cam after running strong for a year (it was the 3rd time I had reused that particular cam). We decided to stab in a Comp 270 Magnum cam which is still a pretty mild 224/224* grind. We thought it was fast before, but with the slightly larger cam it really came alive on the top end.
How alive?
Well, we ran a Corvette ZR-1 (the Vette with the 400HP 4-cam motor in it from the early 90s) in it. Did it from a highway roll. Just walked right away from him, getting stronger as we went. Tried it a second time, giving him the jump and proceeded to walk him again after playing a few seconds of catch-up. Lotsa fun.
Another story..... a very mild carbureted 400 in my old 79 Malibu putting power through a stock stall converter, highway rear gears and running a 150 plate shot cranked off an 11.99 @ 116 ON STREET RADIALS- not DRs.
I don't have any 400s in my stable now but I'm sure I will again in the future.

I don't have one but after reading tons of mag build ups, posts here and seeing the power they put down at the track, I am definitely planning a build up.
I am considering starting with a built shortblock and going from there. Coast performance has an all forged version that I am considering.

Well I have a 406 on the engine stand waiting for this winter to go into a RX7. Combo is balanced/zero decked 406 10.7:1, etec 200 heads, super victor jr. intake, HP 750 carb, comp cams XE sft 236/242 .534/.544 with 1.6 rockers. I am hoping for 475 to 500hp. Seems guys with similar combos in a 383 make 450 on engine dyno so I am hoping for similar #'s. I wasn't going to dyno but maybe I will, have the pros break the cam in/seat rings etc etc.

ive thought about putting the 400 i have in the 82
might still do it, not sure
in stock form it doesnt put much more power out than a 350 the same year, but does put out good torque
hmm

or you could give me that 400 to put in my 82...you know for all the help ive been....but seriously? wanna sell it?
406 with holley 750 V.S carb, victor jr. intake, protopline iron heads, keith black pistons, about 10.5 compression, 6" rods, comp cams extreme energy cam, 1.6 roller rockers, 1 5/8 long tubes, all msd ignition car weighs about 33-3400 with driver and runs 12.6, 3.73 and turbo 350 tranny shifting at 6000. i think that makes about 425 hp maybe?
