THE SHOP CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM NOW WHAT?
Well my car is having a rough idel and the engine is making a knocking or ticking sound. The shop called me up after 7 hours and said to come pick up the car they can't figure it out. They said its not an ignition problem it sound like a fuel problem. I tested my fuel pressure its fine. they said to look at the fuel injectors and test them. and to look at the egr valve. and said it my have a leaking intake manifold gasket. im stumped and need help on how to go about testing the car.

i hope you didn't pay them any more than the typical 34.95 inspection fee for them not fixing a problem at all. Did you check for simple things like vacuum leaks, etc.? Furthermore, I see your from chicago, and we're having a hooters gathering tomorrow night, the post is on the chicago board if you'd like to meet some local members.

i did not pay him a penny. he said no charge. I may show up to the gathering if my day is open.

When did this start? slowy over time, after car sat for a while, after replacing something, after racing someone?
knocking/ticking? At idle? Is it a louder "knock", or a lighter tick? If you can split the hair on that one
Rough idle, does it stall? any trouble codes?
Should be easy to pinpoint with the right info!

It started on night I was driving home from work I felt it having a rough idel and then as I drove it 5 min after the first notice of the rough idel it went away. Then a week after that it happen out of the blue and stayed like that. The noise is coming from the passanger side by the cat converter. It shakes hard when in drive but when in park it not has rough. I do not think it the trans because it seems fine. Also the exhaust sounds like shi# since this happen. like it clogged but the exhaust system and componants are all new I wish i can drive it down there but am not to sure it will make it thanks for any info

my ignition module in the distributor acted like that before it went out completely.also plug wires can cause that too.
