Car wont shift like it should... I dont think its the tranny

My '88 GTA has been shifting weirdly the past month or so. It only does this when i floor it... When i put the pedal to the floor, my rpms get up to like 6000 and the car doesnt shift over. To make it shift over, I have to let off the accelerator for a second and then push again. Then the car will pop over to the next gear. What my very un-educated guess is... that the engine is not getting the amount of fuel that it should be, and there is some sensor that doesnt think that there is enough fuel for the car to switch gears and go faster. The reason that this is apart of my guess is that around the same time that i noticed this problem my car started to have trouble starting. Now i have to turn the key to the 'on' position twice, and let the fuel pump sound fully twice, before actually starting the car, otherwise the car takes a while(7 seconds) to start. Again... it only does this when i accelerate hard. And the shifts are still nice and crisp when im normally driving. What do yall think?

If you have NO trouble codes then I would check the vaccum line that goes to the tranny. Anything is possible but I'm pretty sure there isn't anything in the ecm that connects fuel to shifting directly.

The starting problem sounds more like a fuel pump or fuel filter problem. When was the last time you put a new filter in it?

I just figured out that the car only has the shifting problem when in overdrive, But shifts fine when in non-overdrive Drive.

if you have it to the floor... the car will not shift into overdrive.. they are designed that way if you have the 700r4... also there is no vac line.. adn he only thing the computer controls is the torque converter lockup. at anything over 70% throttle it will kick down into 3rd gear out of overdrive.. there are vlaved you can put in and such that will make it up to 85% throttle before it does that.. what you are seeing is what it is supposed to do. Flat on the floor means no shifting to 4th.

the fuel problem.. could be a filter.. if you have the intank pump it could be that too.
