Nitrous and Crank
Im thinking about putting a NOS Cheater system in my car. My engine right now has about 490 horsepower. The crank i have is a 383 eagle cast steel crank. It says its rated up to 500 hp. Im looking to put a 150 shot on the motor. Anyone have running a 150 or bigger shot on there motor? Let me know what your setup is and how it goes. Also how you think my motor would hold on a 150 shot. Thanks.

you have a very high compression ratio already to use nitrous, that's the first thought.
I think you can push that 500HP limit a bit, but not a lot. I would think 100HP is all i'd feel comfortable using in your case.

You go over a 100 shot you will be treading on thin ice IMO. by the way is that 490 at the crank or at the wheels? Estimated or dyno? the last 383 i built using a cast steel scat crank and i beam rods made an estimated 500hp, it has 13:1 comp and dart pro 1 aluminum heads. i have shot a 150 shot on it and is still holding up fine. its in a freinds 70 nova weighs 3000lbs and has a best run of 10.78 on the motor and 10.20 on the unit. we just put the bigger solenoids on it last night, might hit it with 200 shot this weekend, and keep our fingers crossed lol.
