car hasnt been started for 2 months. i forgot this even happened until ppl started talking about blowing head gaskets. I fired it up the other day. and let it idle. the choke was on so it idled at like 2000 rpm for a few minutes. ( i still have to adjust timing and carb) i had to shut if off to do something and it dieseled really bad. i tapped the throttle and it detonated and what appeared to be smoke poofed out of the bottom of the carb and valve covers. (i was in the car, i couldnt see too much) please tell me it could've been something else. I cant see water in the oil on the dipstick, but then again its only been run for 5 min. since thats happened. didnt see any blue smoke either. just the typical poof due to valve seals.

 

I don't think you blew a head gasket doing that.

I'd start it back up and let it idle for a while. Set timing, go from there. Check your oil after it's running for a while, I think you're fine.

 

sonix, youre always replying to my threads man. we shouldve gone for a cruise while i lived in calgary a few months ago.

i have tomorrow off so ill let you know how it goes, any carb/vacuum questions ill put on that other post with the pics.
