your running rich, or cranking and not getting her to start. Change the oil.

If you flood the engine badly this can wash the rings down and cause it to let gas by the rings and into the crankcase. Definitly want to change your oil pronto!

If your oil had gas in it, change your oil. Gasoline does not lubricate

I just tore a friends motor down since he was running it to rich and got a lil gas mixed with oil and it distroyed his rod bearings.... Bad news! Have you flooded it a lot? What do the plugs look like?

I had this happen and as mentioned earlier, the fuel pump diaphram leaked and dumped gas into the oil pan. You might want to check that out. I had one case of this and it actually filled the crankcase to over full and hydrolocked the car. It would not crank as the pan was absolutely filled with oil to the point that the starter would not turn the engine over. I've never seen one this bad before this, but it happened to me!

Good luck!
Brad

Well do the basics first.... Check your float level since if you have it to high it will leak into the intake, Also check timing as your pinging thing concerns me. Are you running a mechanical pump or an electric pump? Regulated or non

You have a fuel gauge on there then? I would do those checks and then see what you came up with....

from what iv heard, if its a stick and you kill it, it can shove gas down in thier too, i may not be making sense, but in my moms 02 civic, the oil light came on, b/c the oil was 2 thin, and it happened after i tried to teach my g/f to drive it and she killed it 19893458 times, and someone told me it backfired gas into the oil.
