Will it fit?
I called Summit and ordered a GMPP Timing cover for my '87 Iroc-Z. On the package that i recieved it says that it is for a '69-'86 small block. I called and asked of it would fit and the genius on the phone said that it "definately might"
. So, i'm asking for your help. Will it fit?

haha, that's classic.
Well the cover is for a flat tappet setup, and you'll have a roller setup.
I don't think it'd have provisions for a cam button, therefore meaning it won't work. But i'm not very sure on this answer, I just had to post because I think that's hilarious.

Let me tell you that i wanted to kick him in his teeth when he said that; none the less, that was comical.

So, i called two local engine builders and one said it would work and the other said it won't. Can someone please set this straight? If you can answer the question i would also apretiate the "why" it will or won't work.
Thanks

I thought it needed to kick out further for a cam button? Aww heck, i'm gonna have to watch someone install a retro roller, and a factory roller cam, and stand and watch 'em do it, so I know how each one works. Much like the whole "long vs short" water pump, i'll never remember it until I see it or do it.
Then, the 60 trillion dollar question - is buddy here ok with his timing chain cover?

You get the right length cam button for the cover you've got, or you get a nylon one that you can trim to fit. His factory roller setup doesn't use a cam button, anyway.
Definitely maybe.
It should fit fine. They're probably worried about the timing pointer location.

Thats what i like to here!
That's good stuff. Thanks for the lesson. Also, If you get an electric pump you don't need to know if it's long or short.
