I think i may have a cracked head gasket how much does does that cost to fix on average.

 

It's either a cracked head (heaven forbid), or a head gasket failure. You don't really refer to the head gasket as having cracked. Anyway....

About 6hrs labor or so, so around $800 or so.
If you do it yourself, around $80 for the parts, the head gaskets, the intake gaskets, coolant, etc.

 

Well what sonix said would be good for the head gasket repair but without having it torn down your not gonna be totally sure that, thats all it will take to fix since you can have other problems (cracked head) or something else. Are you planning on doing the work or having the work done by a shop? Once the head/heads are off I would definitly have a machine shop check the straitness and all to make sure it is ok before putting it all back together.

 

The better question right now is why do you think you have a head/head gasket problem?

 

Sonix gave you a pretty good rough estimate actually... thats roughly what it would cost to have that job done at the shop I work at. Around 6-8hrs labor, plus head/intake/valve cover/exhaust gaskets, plus coolant, oil, probably spark plugs, plus retuning once its all back together (although that would likely be lumped into initial labor).

 

I pretty sure its a blown headgasket or sometihing if you want to know the cooling problem go checkout my post inthe cooling section, how much does cost if its a cracked head? be cause that my be it to.

blown head gaskets don't usually cause cooling problems, usually coolant in oil problems (or vice versa). But I didn't see your other thread so...

 

You should probably run a compression or leakdown test to verify there is a mechanical problem, then go from there. If the compression and/or leakdown test shows a failure the heads are probably gonna have to come off. When the heads are off you might as well replace the valve seals and valve springs (or have a shop do it) fairly cheap and common wear items. I would also get the heads milled. When I had my headgasket fail on my 89 IROC-Z it failed on the ridge between cylinders 4 and 6, explained why my compression test results on those two cylinders were low.
