Clearance
Yeah i was just wondering how much clearance is under my 84 Z28 hood, to add a new intake manifold and/or new air cleaner. My buddy told me theres no way i can add any of that without getting a new hood.

I just installed a performer RPM intake under my stock Z28 hood, modded the bottom of the duel snorkel breather to fit on my holly carb and cut a peice of sheet metal for a cover.it is very tight but it works

Off topic: Z28er, what Holley? How'd you modify? What you do for an air cleaner after modification?

I hate to even say it but your friend is an idiot. I hate people who can't think positive. [Though hating them is an oxymoron.] I just don't like when folks can't think outside the box. They assume everything is to hard to even try. Unless some fancy mag told them it works.
You know a "good friend" was standing there saying similar 1000s n 1000s of years ago when the wheel was being invented.
round rock dumb uga bouga
Though it should be obvious from now on, don't take or listen to advice from him.
Just about any will fit under your stock hood with a little positive thinking and work. There is always a way. But if your depending on your friends advice a CC and a summit catalog, think again.
Just take it slow and go one step at a time.
Here is just a quick one done as a cut away. Like ya see on show cars. Ya run everything low and on the sides. air filter slips down and around the carb.

Take a few tall pieces of clay and stick them to the top of your air cleaner. Then close the hood. The hood will smash down the clay, and you'll see exactly how much room you have to play with.

heres what i did to the breather.all you have to do is cut holes for the fuel lever adjustments to make it sit right down on the carb

well i don't have it all finished yet.i just got it to clear, that was my main project.i still have to clean up the cuts on the bottom peice of the breather and for the cover, bend the edges down to fit snug to each other.the main thing is that i got it to fit under the hood.
