My 350 Cubic Inch Adventure
Okay, so here's the plan: I just recently got a Camaro Sport Coupe that originally came with a V6 but had a V8 swapped in. I didn't own it during this pierod, and it was done pretty poorly, so I'm going to fix that. I don't know a lot about engines, but I'm pretty able I think to learn and fix it myself with your help. They botched the swap pretty bad and I want to pull the engine and do it all over and do it right.
Here are some pictures of the engine bay:

Here's the Engine Bay!

Driver's side of the engine. You can start to see the mess that this is. Alot of the wiring from the V6 is just laying around and there are things wrapped and zip tied to each other, it's a mess.

Passenger's side of the engine. Again, it's a mess. (This may just be my untrained eyes...)

This looks like the stock V6 radiator... Any way to confirm that? If so, I'll have to get a V8 one.

The power steering pump, mounted on all messed up and not aligned right. The belt just dangles.

What's this? Is it missing a cover of some sort?
Because of how this whole thing is botched and wired in and what not terribly. I'd like to do all new wiring myself, but I haven't been able to find any wiring harnesses for 350 Carbed engines, just Fuel Injection. Any tips on what I could do for this? Thanks.

with a carbed V-8 like that, there is such a small amount of wiring left thats used, you may as well cut out everything not needed, then just throw some nice clean loom over whats left. Maybe direct it as needed.
I can show you what my engine bay looks like, I didn't pay any attention to making it look nice, I just cut out what wasn't needed. There's only
choke
alternator
water temp
For visible wiring. Oil pressure is hidden by the distributor wiring. So really, there's not much there (I wouldn't pay for a "harness" for this application, too simple).
That's a V6 rad there.
Yea, you've got a lot left to toss in that engine bay, and clean up. Some of the cheap summit chrome stuff really makes a world of difference.
Cheesy $12 chrome alternator mount would look great. The valve covers and water neck are nice, but overshadowed by the dirty bay. Try some degreaser and a day scrubbing with a tire brush, that'll sure brighten things up.
Stuff near the waterneck is probably not needed anymore, try snapping a pic showing the 1' radius around the waterneck, with the air cleaner removed, we might be able to give you some ideas there.

I would like to see your engine bay, Sonix.
The only reason I'd like to re-do all the wiring is that the person before me had so much stupid **** wired up and he toyed with the dash too, to the point of everything being a garbled mess. I think what's best for the car is a fresh start. I can go grab a pic of it now with the air cleaner off, anything else you'd be interested in seeing?
How can you tell it's a V6 radiator?
----------
Also, just so everyone knows, this engine is down the line going to be pulled and rebuilt. It has some issues that I'm still trying to get a proper symptom of. Once I get the power steering properly hooked up and running I'll give you guys the prognosis.

It's smaller than my rad, and I sport an original LG4 V8 rad, so I figured it was a V6 rad. Maybe someone else can say beyond the shadow of a doubt, mine was just a guess.
I don't actually have many pictures of my engine bay since I swapped in the 350, but here's one, sans the alternator at that time
https://webdisk.ucalgary.ca/~jmknopp...ay%20may06.jpg
-So you'll notice a loom going to the alternator
-a big 1AWG wire on the far left, going to a circuit breaker, for my stereo
-some messy wiring at the back left going to the wiper motor
-a little bit of messy wiring by the brake booster (both of these could be easily cleaned up with some loom
-However you should notice the clean intake manifold, and the vast wasteland around my waterneck. Nice, clean, open space. Makes it look good I think.
-my 2 heater core hoses could have been longer, and routed along the passenger side frame rail near the fuel lines if I wanted to, would have also cleaned up the area.
Also, your collection of adjustment nuts at the front of your driverside header, (power steering pump area), is the same as mine. Pretty common solution to that problem I guess.
oh, some dish soap, a sponge and a hose will work wonders on your reservoir bottles. I was in disbelief actually.

You removed your AC? Did you use one of those $150.00 AC delete kits, or is there a cheaper / nice alternative to that?

Um no. Never had A/C.
I guess the cheaper alternative is to buy the HVAC stuff off a car in the wreckers that didn't have AC.

Thanks Sonix. Tomorrow I'm going to be ripping the dash open and seeing what is left of the wiring if / at all. I might also go pick up a Haynes manual for schematics etc. The engine also has some issues I'll be looking to ask you about tomorrow too. Thanks again!

This is what I did to mount the power steering pump with headers. I made it from 1/2 inch by 1 inch SS bar stock. It is very solid and doesn't look too awful.
