Engine combo from Trick Flow

I was just curious what everyone thought of this engine combo from trick flow, and weather or not it would work with a 92 5.7l tpi motor. Doesn't specify if it does or not. Thanks for having a look.

Its definatly a nice kit but for 2k im sure you could do better.... thiers no way your gonna make 465hp on a stock tpi system you would also have to buy a bigmouth base for it because the stock one is really restricting and also you would need an lt1 style mini ram or some other short runner intake system. tpi by itself is a good system but has too many restrictions to try and upgrade heads and cam without doing the hole intake system.

The cam might be little hard to tune for if your keeping EFI.

I've already upgraded to the edelbrock intake and large runners, also have headers and catback exhaust. If not this setup what would work good and give me the most "bang". I'd like to stick with the trick flow heads tho. Thanks

Couple of thoughts. Those Trickflow heads have 72cc combustion chambers. IMHO those are to large for a 350 motor. You need the 64cc versions.

Like was said above that cam is to big for most TPI setup's. You would be better off with one that has smaller duration and high lift.

I think you can do better for less money. The Trickflow heads are very good and I would have no problem sticking with them. It's the other parts you can do better on for your combination.

I appreciate the insight. Any thoughts on a good cam that would work well with those heads?

The Trickflow head I used on my last combo was number TFS-30400007. Made well over 400hp with a small cam. If you can afford it get the TFS-30400007-CNC version if you are going to put them on out of the box. I did that with the non CNC version and had very good luck. The choice is yours.

As to the cam for a long tube runner setup. I like high lift shorter duration cams. The one I chose for my current set up is the Comp Cams XFI 268 cam. If you go that route get the Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.6 rockers. Also get the best pushrods you can afford.

Well I just about have everything picked out for this and ready to order. I'm going with the TFS-30400007-CNC heads and the XFI268HR13 cam, I'm also going to get the Comp cams Pro Magnum 1.6 ROckers, question is will these fit under the stock valve covers? Cause with the larger runners I don't think I can run tall valve covers. Thanks for the help

The Trick Flow heads with 195cc intake ports & 64cc chambers is the way to go,, but I still prefer AFRs. As someone stated above, the cam seems to be more suited for a carb and high RPM. For the cam, I would not go above a 224/230. And the 110* LSA is not computer friendly. For an EFI car, dont go below 112* LSA, and 114* LSA would be best.

You will be fine. I used longer rocker studs on my Dart Pro One 200cc heads and had to get the taller valve covers. With the Trickflows you should have no problem using the stock covers. Expect some serious horsepower.

The heads come complete with the rocker arm studs so I just need to get the nuts for them. The also come with the guide plates so I'll need to non-self aligning rocker arms. Now about pushrods, I want to get the hardened pushrods but what length do I need? Will stock work fine or do I need to assemble this and then check for an exact length? Thanks I appreciate the help.

I checked your Summit Racing link, and it sais 110* LSA for the cam. At least I thought thats what I read.

I just double checked it, it is 110* LSA.

I have to disagree with this. I have had the TFS heads with 64cc chambers on my Xfire Vette for at least the last 5 years and found them to be excellent. But in particular, I must disagree with the statement that a cam with less than a 110LSA is not computer friendly. Mine is a 108 and idles very nicely thank you. It takes tuning and RBob's EBL really helps. My currnt cam is smaller than the 224/230 that doc is suggesting, but it matches the flow of the heads. Overall, a great combo. I'd recommend it to anyone.

The Comp Cams XFI268HR13 cam is indeed on a 113 lsa. Your Pro Magnum Rockers will come with the nuts and other hardware you need.

Alright thanks for all the input. The cam is on backorder but I should have everything by the end of the month. I've been wanting to get this done before I go over seas so I really appreciate the help. The wife is finally letting me spend some money. Hopefully all will go well with the install.
