engine keeps going after shutoff?
somtimes my car (87 camaro 305tbi 4bbl lg4) when i turn the key to turn her off it acts like its off(gauges quit, stereo turns off etc etc) but the engine sounds like some of the pistons are still going "boom boom boom" and it shakes a bit...first time it did this is quit after aobut 3-5 seconds, but today(second time) it kept going for about 15 so i turned the key real quick and it started right up..shut it off and it "died" just fine.
any ideas? could it be spark plugs? or should i try running on the lowest fuel instead of high grade?
thanks,
Christopher

it could be carbon built up in the engine it gives the engine "Hot Spots" where it gets so hot in these spots that it continues to burn the fuel evan after there is no spark.
run a fuel treatment through it and replace the plugs. that should clear it up (well it did for my car)
umm 305TBI LG4?????

Have you thrown a timing light on it? If you throw the cheaper gas in it im sure it will probably just get worse. What kind of idle speed are you running at?

thanks. ...I *think* so or is that totally contradictory (XD just learning aobut cars period really(including camaros)) person i bought it from called it a 1987 Camaro "RS" but its got a 8cyl in it, which i believe to be the 305 and according to the VIN its an lg4 (which i thought was 305tbi..XD had her four days to figure out what she is on no sleep) so anyways...>.<
idle is 1500 cold(choke on) about 950 or so warmed up. no i havn't done anything to it, just bought her stock(cept hood is a 3in cowl).

well when replacing the plugs and whatnot I would definitly check timing. Might be a run on condition which can be caused from timing being off. It could be carbon like what venom has been saying as well.
