GM Ingenuity: Changing the Spark Plugs on the LG4

It is necessary to have the front end lifted up so that one can change the spark plugs? Here I am all ready to swap out the old plugs with NGK's and the exhaust manifolds are blocking the plug wires. Did GM seriously design the LG4 so that you have to replace them while being under the car?

Thanks for reading my rant/question.

If you mean access to the plugs from underneath the car, yes, I can only access the 5 and 7 plugs from underneath, but I have SLP headers.
6 and 8 will be a problem when I reinstall the A/C housing.

when i had the LG4 in my car back in the day, i was able to change all of the plugs from above. wasn't fun, but i managed with a lot of swearing...stupid manifolds.

Mine being RHD make changing plugs a challenge, more so with the steering shaft being close to the manifold.

No, like mentioned you can get them from the top. The only thing is you must accept the fact that you hands are going to get cut up a bit.

You will have much better accesss changing most of the plugs from below. Just jack the car up and crawl under there. It will easily cut the time spent doing this job in half.

Very hard to do from above, if you don't have any just buy some cheap ramps and drive the car up on them, takes all the work out of it.

One of my friends has a proper jack that I can use to lift up the front end. Seeing that he was a mechanic, I'll leave the work to him while I'll observe and learn at the same time.

peh, if you want a challenge, try a toronado (V8 Front wheel drive), you gotta remove wheel wells to get at the suckers. makes me appreciate the newer designs a little better, regardless of how many knuckles i busted.
