AFR 210's

Are the AFR 210cc race ready heads too big for the cam I want Lunati Voodoo 241*/249* @.050 with .525/.546 lift? I see them on their website but on a 406ci engine. The setup is almost exactly like mine except 406ci as to my 383ci, making 550hp at the flywheel sounds really nice to me though.

Which are you thinking of changing, the heads or the cam?

I think those heads are maybe a tiny bit too big for the cam. But, would you rather go up a step in cam, or down a step in heads? hmmm, indeed.

I dont want to go a step up because my car is primarily a street car and the rpm range on that cam is already 2500-6500 but a step down in head would go from 210 to 195 which I don't really want to do.

Noke that ****...."JUST DO IT", should be just fine, be sure you have a good intake to support it, as well as a properly tuned carb, good luck.

I'm not sure if you think the edelbrock performer rpm is a good enough intake but thats whats on there now. Should be fine right?

I think the 210cc heads will be fine with that cam, I wouldn't hesitate to use them. If you go with the 210's you won't have to worry about being mismatched later if you step up to a larger cam. Those heads would love a solid roller in the 250-260dur@.05, .600+ lift range.
The performer RPM should be fine with your combo too, but I would have it port matched if it isn't already. I ran very similar cam(242/248@.05, .540/.560lift) with a RPM airgap and it worked great. You probably wouldn't see any gains with a single plane unless you went to a larger cam with a higher power band.

Would I be able to find a solid roller cam like that to run in the 2500-6500rpm range?

Yes. The smallest solid roller or so. Not a lot of benefit to a solid roller below 6000RPM though. Also, if it'll be street driven, you'll want a way to get oil to the roller. Grooved lifter, or putting a groove in the bore is popular.

Is that the hyd. flat tappet or a hyd. roller? I think your combo should be killer and I say go for it. I am going to use the Voodoo hyd. roller #60112 which has .535/.550 and .231/.239 @ .050 lift in my 400 I am building. Good luck with your build..
