I'm Being trashed on ebay

I am hoping somebody can help me. I am a female, who doesn't know much about cars. Two years ago I bought a Z-28. Now I am trying to sell it on ebay, and I have gotten 2 nasty, vulgar language diatribes saying I am a fraud and a crook and don't have a Z-28. Here is my vin# 1G1FP87H1GL113358. From what I could tell on all the specs, I have a z-28. How can these guys tell me it isn't? Based on WHAT? I'm not trying to cheat anyone and need to know what I own.

Post the eBay link.

People will always do that. They're conditioned to use it as a negotiation technique.

By the VIN, I can't tell that it's not a Z28; looks to me like a 86 model with the LG4 engine.

check under the hood right on top of the rad support it should have a body plate that will have z28 stamped right on it if its a z28 2) you were just unlucky enough to find some jerkoff that probably wants your car but cant afford it imo i think your asking a little too high for it but its your car good luck with the sale

Looks like a Z28 to me. I think you'd do better if it were cleaned well before taking photos for your post, and what the heck is that green wire mess on the engine? It really does look like it needs some TLC. Does the car really have new headers?

why would someone think that's not a Z28? The price is a bit high...but with some TLC..that looks like a nice car.

Well, an IROC is basically a Z28, with a few extras GM added when they designed the IROC. GM just dropped the model name of Z28, when they got the IROC contract.

But yeah, I would suggest a good vacuuming, and cleaning of the underhood leaves, before posting pics. The better it looks in pics, the more likely it is to sell.

When or if you respond, at the bottom, see what's checked off, as to how you respond. There is a way to respond to them without it appearing on your ad. They basically totally screwed up your auction. Not sure what that green wire is, but it doesn't look appealing. I would take it to a car wash and have it cleaned inside and out too. Good luck.

Your price is too high. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. You can buy that car all day long on dealer lots for a great deal less than you're asking. Some market research on the actual sale price - not "blue book", not Barrett-Jackson, but real actual transactions that have actually occurred - should be your guide.

The car looks TERRIBLE. When you go to sell a car, the first thing you should do is CLEAN IT UP. Take the garbage out of it, wash it, vacuum it, rake off the dead leaves, etc. Ask any realtor about how to sell a house.

Lose that green wire. Fix whatever that was a hack for. That looks about as trailer-park as it gets. These cars don't need a hack job like that for anything. Top-dollar cars don't have their wiring hacked like that.

Lose the SS sticker on the dash. Looks like something a junior-high-school kid found it in a bubble gum wrapper and stuck it there. Adult-driven cars don't have stupid stickers on them like that, that plainly don't belong.

That car, cleaned up and all, looks like it would be a pretty nice car; but like it is, people are just going to look at it and laugh. When you ask top dollar for a car and all you have to show people is pictures of it, the pictures had better make the car look like a top dollar car. And those just don't.

Good luck!!!

Clean = nice. The car is in good shape and I think whoever posted the questions/comments was a jerk. You are asking a little too much (unless it comes with the empty water bottle, lol). I've found on e-bay the best way to go about it is to set a reserve and NOT a starting price. I also think you should bring the car to be professionally detailed throughout (even the engine bay) and you'll probably have good success. I paid $2600 for my 'Bird (88k miles/ Florida car) which is also a cream puff (with a 6er) and you can click on my vbgarage to see the shape it was in. The guy was asking $3300 and the "book" is around $2400. Seems like lots of people have two e-bay screen names to help their own items get the price up (I'ts a scam), but I can never bring myself to be dishonest like that.
I say clean the car and re-post it.

They erased your link because you're not supposed to put your ad on here for cars. You were lucky enough the item number was allowed. Be careful or you can getfrom this site.

You're asking a little too much. The car is dirty and needs a little TLC maybe (Your dirty pics of the car dont help that perception...) but it IS a very solid looking car. Check for rust on it and be sure to bring up that there is little to no rust if that's what you find. That car is not valuable for it's engine. It's valuable as a solid platform for a hobbyist and because it is a Z28.

And those silly SS badges.... meh

But, I do think that's a pretty nice car. You dont find many with no damage and okay paint that old. Be sure to mention that. If you clean it up nice, that's a $3000 car, that's might be a little high for what it is, but $3000 is definitely possible. But above that you're gonna have a hard time, set your starting price at $1900 and clean the car up.

And for heavens sake, remove "Fluffy" from the rear hatch before you take a picture. Letting animals on the car leads me to believe there are many scratches that can not be seen in the picture. I agree, the presentation is really whats hurting the sale.

I think you have one nice Z28 there, good starting point for a thirdgenner.

I agree with the above posters that you need to clean it up, especially if you want more money, the fuzzy dice, dusty dash and water bottle/dirt on the floor really make it look uncared for, and potential car buyers would be thinking "if it's this dirty inside, the drive train must have been neglected too"
so as a result they will offer less money, or worst case scenario, look elsewhere.

my suggestion mirrors a few other member's take the auction down, have the car washed, vacuumed, polish the paint and shine up the dash a little, that will make a world of difference in how much it sells for.

good luck with your sale.

I think this is just a "sly" way to advertise your car hoping while someone is helping a "female" out that someone would be interested in your car.

Looks to be a nice $2,000-$3,000 car if cleaned up & it looks to me like a z28. Heck I'm only 3 hours from ya, I'd probley buy it if it were cleaned up. If you relist it, properly describe it. In your auction it states "no body or interior damage to speak of", but the seat is clearly ripped & dash looks cracked on the drivers side. Buyers will think you are hiding other things. So pretty much like the guys said knock the cats off, remove the badge, bottle, glasses, dice, green wires, leaves, dirt, dust. Lots more detailed pictures will help too. You can use photobucket to host your pictures so you don't have to pay all the extra fees for pictures. You can post as many pictures as you want for free. Oh yea 1 more thing talking about menopause scares alot of men away :-)

I am not intimidated. You should remove your ebay link since it is a violation of the rules. I never insulted you, I challenged your methods. Also, it is very unwise to post your phone number like that too, there are alot of weirdos.

the car is a decent car looks like a z28 with t-tops and a v8...

i think if you cleaned it up the re-listed price is still a little high tho... id put reserve at like $2300 you could pretty easily get it...

just vacuum it out really nice and get rid of that snapple bottle and lose that grody green wire...

-good luck

If you read the rules, you are breaking plenty. You were warned and had your post modified both in the same day. Again if you read the rules you would know you have to be an established member to sell products here on the board. Do you know how many times people come on here to sell something and dissapear when there are offers? There are reasons people think the way they do. If you were really a fan of the car, you would have been here a long time ago!
.
As I said you obviosly don't want your car or care about the people here, so I say don't post here anymore.

Your words. As I said, I've had it with all the rudeness and moronic comments about things people know nothing about simply by reading my listing. I APOLOGIZE! I never doubted your gender. Infact why are you attacking me personally? I broke no rules.

It is all about perception you know?

We have plenty of "Hi, I am a female who knows ziltch please bend over backwards for me threads." This is why I emphized "female" I had no reason to doubt your gender.

However, the way you are going about this is all wrong.

If you were willing to donate your car, why ask so much for it on e-bay? Had you really not cared about the money, why even have a reserve or start bid price?

Good luck selling your car but ebay threads are frowned apon on the basis that once your auction ends , and thus the link dies, his thread is a space robbing text monger in the database and will clutter future searches by members. Good luck.

Please show me where she was warned and where her post was modified. I searched the logs and didn't see anything of the sort. I could have missed it, but since the public doesn't see logs, I'm uncertain how this conclusion was reached.

I did notice that she was not the first to give out the eBay link. It was supplied by a member before her response.
