New engine question

Just started my new build engine, and let it idle for around 40 min. Now I have changed the oil and filter. Is it normal to se "soot"/"carbon" in the oil and tiny aluminium "powder" from the oil in the oilfilter? is that from the break in procedure? Not big parts, more like "dust".

Thanks

Flat tappet cam, I presume?

If so, what did you use for cam lube?

Re: New engine question

Sorry for the lack of info.
Its a hyd roller camshaft. And its not alot, you can se it if you "tilt" the bucket with all the oil in it, is in the bottom. Tiny "flakes" in aluminium color.
I checked the rockers and puch rods for wear but its all fine.

Thanks

Either that or an inadequately cleaned block during the rebuild.

Don't run too long before you drain the oil again.
