whats this? not normal is it?

I found this when I took the intake off.......this isnt normal huh? pooling fuel in the head......what would cause this? and would this have anything to do with me not being able to restart the car after it runs for awhile...I would have to let it sit...and then it would crank....but barely...My HSR also has puddling fuel in the plenum..theres pictures of it in that section

I have the port circled where I found the fuel

its hard to see but there is a puddle of fuel in the port.

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

On a multiport engine fuel puddling usually means leaky injectors, right? Especially if you have only certain ports that are exhibiting this trait. You should probably test the injectors and make sure you note which injector is what to see if that is right.

Are you running too much fuel pressure for the injector that you are using? Are your injectors made for too high of a flow rate?

I am just throwing out some ideas, I'm not an expert on fi...

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

i know it is unusual but what about a the cam did you lose a lobe? i think it would be odd that it would puddle like that in only 1 port if the valve was opening properly

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

what and where do I start looking? I guess I can send the injectors out and have them tested....they are suppose to be 30lb injectors......and Im only running 42lbs of fuel pressure thru my regulator..
how can I tell if a lobe is gone? roll the motor over and see if that valve opens and closes?

Roll it and watch. How many miles on that build? My bet is a leaky injector

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

yeah I just went and rolled it over and it opened and closed just like the others and of course the fluid is now gone when the valve opened...theres about 300miles on the build and as far as I know the injectors were suppose to be new..but you know how that goes.

what would a leaky injector cause?

1 thing I have noticed is when I fire the car up and run it and then shut it off...the fuel pressure on my gauge slowly goes down......and if I just key the car to on and cut it off...the fuel pressure slowly goes down.....how long does it usually take for fuel pressure to go from 42psi to 0psi or atleast drop maybe 20psi?

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

either a leaky injector or a leaky regulator...

I'm betting injector since you have fuel puddling...

Re: whats this? not normal is it?

would there be a possibility of both being bad? the injector causing the puddle in the port and the regualtor causing the pudlling in my plenum and gas being between the plenum and gasket?

this is what I have on the uderside of the plenum and on the inside is a puddle of fuel...how can I check to see if my fuel pressure regulator isw bad with it off the car?
