how to remove engine oil cooler block? HELP ASAP

that square block not sure if thats the oil sending unit? or just something for the oil cooler lines, either way!

im hung up on the drivers side of installing my hooker long tubes, i have the engine oil cooler lines disconnected and out of the way. However the block that they plug into (the oil sending unit??) is in the way of the header sliding in.

i already have the motor jacked up, but the piece highlighted in the picture needs to come out.

does it just thread out because if it does im screwed, theres no way i can spin that 360 degrees without unbolting hte transmission.

My friend had one of those on his 88 GTA, but we didn't take if off when we sold the motor, so I am not sure how it comes off.

Take a look from undreneath and it's pretty apparent how it comes out. You don't have to turn the adapter itself, just remove the center threaded part, and any bolts that go through it (I can't remember if there are any or not).

A big, deep 6 point socket usually works best for that. I don't remember the size offhand, though.

Re: how to remove engine oil cooler block? HELP ASAP

Since the small block is relatively unchanged since 1955, not many things that bolt directly to the block are Metric.
