starter issues

the starter on my v6 firebird when its cold spins but dose not engage the flywheel then wait a second and it engages the flywheel starts right up and other times it will engage the flywheel turn the motor over then just spins with out turning the motor over. could the bendix be dirty or defective it dose not seem like the fly wheel is missing teeth
because you wait for the starter to stop spining then it fires right up no problem, any thoughts

Most likely. That's what moves the pinion to engage the flywheel. It may just need a good cleaning and a little grease.

Re: starter issues

the solenoid was 9 bucks cheaper than the starter itself and thats what was bad and now i have a low esc voltage
