OK, i just put a 305 in my 84 camaro which came with factory v6 (2.8 i believe) and later converted to 305 v8. Now i baught the car with no engine, i just put a 305 lg4 carbed engine, and wired it up, i have power inside the car, lights work and everything but, i turn the key and no power at all reaches the starter, what possible wire could i be missing? The starter doesn't tick or nothing. Any idea?

 

how many wires did you put on the starter

 

Their is 2 that are on the same connector (i don't know how you call it the thing that slides over the bolt) and another one on a smaller bolt.

 

Is the one on the smaller bolt on the small one closest to the engine?

 

is the small purple wire connected to the starter, that is the key on wire. also check to see if it is broken or chaffed. i had that problem once when my car wouldnt start.

 

That was one of my questions.

The other is, what did you do for transmission/shifter? There's a thing called the neutral safety switch, if you fiddled around inside the car that may have been neglected.

 

I agree, u must check this, I put a B&M shifter in my 84 and it wouldnt start at first. You have to do some wiring if you changed the shifter out or no go!!

 

its cool guys, after frigging around with it for 2 days i have given up and wired it to a push start button, thanks for the help any ways, just couldn't find the problem.
