heater issues - brrr its cold!!!
I've recently had some heater issues with my 92 camaro RS 305TBI. after i got it back from the shop (i have the WHOLE situation here if you want to hear it https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/te...mechanics.html (Getting Screwed by Mechanics?!?!?!) ) and now the heat will only come out of the defrost vents
i will move the slider to other settings but the only one that will work is the defrost. any quick fixes/ideas? thanks

The vacuum supply most likely isn't hooked up or is broken.

The defrost setting is the default when a vac problem exists. Under normal circumstances, I'd suggest putting ear to the HAVC unit and listening for a leak in the vac control valve (but as you've experienced no end of underhood troubles who knows):

Re: heater issues - brrr its cold!!!
I am gonna admit, im a total noob especially with the heating.
its to the point where it only will come out of the defrost, it also hisses really loud even a little when it's turned off. I heard a bunch of people saying you could just soak it in brake fluid and it would fix itself? i am just wondering if someone could explain what i'm going to need to do to fix this w/possibly pictures. is everything you need to fix/replace right behind the controls? thanx

Re: heater issues - brrr its cold!!!
Thank you to everyone that contributed - i fixed the problem
it was this part

it was about 20 bucks from advance auto and its a quick job depending on how easy you can pull out your heater console
if you are having the same problem i would refer to this https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/in...ctor-disc.html it has a lot of good info, but its really an easy job
The only problem i ran into was my heater console wouldnt come out of the dash as easily as i would have liked so i had to loosen up the whole middle console, but once you get to the piece, its a 30 second job.
for my 92 camaro i think it was located on the right side
let me know if you have anymore questions i'll try to help you out as much as i can
thanks again!

I have taken my heater controls in and out so many times now that I would actually call myself a master at it. That's about all I'm the master at. I just wish the blower motor was more powerful because it doesn't blow very hard.
