Car not starting, no SES at ignition.
Helllo... Getting to the point:
When I turn the key to the ignition I hear the bipping sound, The seat belt lights lighten etc, but the Service Engine Soon doesnt show up.
Also I cannot here the fuel pump. When I try to start the car the engine cranks but of course it does not start. I think there is a spark but Im not shure, didnt get the cables off becouse they tend to break and it was very cold (they are Accel new ones so that strange :-/ )...
I cannot smell any fuel which is normal due to the fact that I didnt hear fuel pump...
What can it be? I assume ECM died or some shortage near it?
What should I check to find it..?

I am just guessing, but wouldnt no SES light at key-on mean there is an internal ECM problem? Or maybe it means the PROM is toast. Either way, I thought that no SES usually meant limp mode,
What you might try is to see if you can pull any codes. Use a paperclip to jump ports A & B (if I remember correctly) on the ALDL. You should get a code 12.

No codes, nothing happen when I try to read them, no SES at all...
I would assume there is some broken wire from ECM instead of broken ECM any ideas what wires to chack? A typical checking for +12V or any other should do enough..?

I guess check the fuse for primary power to the ECM, it's in the engine bay right near the battery.

Could you be more specific about the location?
I didnt find any fuses in the engine bay when I was searching for them a couple of months ago... Between I have V6 2.8 with a battery on a drivers side, should have started with that :P
Im swaping a V8 this summer but I'd like to fix it first, or be shure thats the ECM and not the wires otherwise if a V8 wont start I will not know if its something new or the same thing...

Re: Car not starting, no SES at ignition.
OK, so the fuses are ok, there is power on them, there is power and ground at the ECM connectors, the fuel pump works when I use 12v on the ALDL connector G, there is no power at the ECM fuse under the dash...
And while I was towing my car the SES light and fuel pump ocassionaly blinked/ worked... So there is some gremlin
I did not have power at the ECM connector A1 (Fuel pump relay drive (12V)), but I dont know If I am suppose to have power there... And then again it is not just the fuel pump problem but the whole ECM, becouse I have no SES light at ignition...
So where to look? Somewhere under the dash? If the ECM fuse under the hood has power does it mean that under hood wires are ok..?
