is this a 305 or 350 Starter?

Just surfing the web and found this link here : http://www.monte-list.nu/html/images...s/P1010066.JPG
Its says that that picture is on a 350 Starter. (original posting are here, JMD post #135 he also links to a 305 starter, but that starter dosent look like the one I took of my car.. : https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...estions-3.html)

Ive changed my starter for some month ago and this is how my starter looks like (the one that was on the car, the stock one, never changed before)

Is my old one a 350 or a 305 Starter... just starting to wonder, because
Could I got an 350 starter from factory or is it linked wrong in the post before?
Because my starter dosent look like the 305 starter JMD linked to in origin post..

Just curious about it

305/350, same starter. Different flywheel and block considerations will affect starter style. Also, when you get a reman, you will notice, sometimes it looks nothing like the one you brought in, then it bolts up and works fine. Lots of different models of the same starter.

305s and 350s take the same starters.

Re: is this a 305 or 350 Starter?

Both starters are high torque units for the smaller 153 tooth flexplate/flywheel. You can tell it's high torque becuase of the long bus terminal extension that feeds power down into the starter motor (high torque starters are longer motors and require that extension off the solenoid). You can tell it's for a 153 tooth model by the in-line bolt pattern.

The starter doesn't know if it's bolted up to a 305 or 350 becuase they use the same mounting and bolt patterns on the block (in-like or staggered) and the same flexplate/flyweels (smaller 153 tooth like all 3rd gen f-body V8 motors used, or 168 tooth like many trucks and other heavy duty applications use).
