HAVE 1982 Z28 CAMARO WITH 1989 IROC Z 350 5.1 ENGINE
When I try to start I have to use starting fluid. Once started; will stay started and crank with key. Once off and left awhile; I try to restart with key and will not start. In order to start I need to reuse starting fluid in order to restart. It's getting spark and getting gas. Please help and let me know what could be the problem.

getting gas

Either it's not getting ENOUGH gas, or the gas that's in the tank, is no longer flammable (a few years old or more).
I'm guessing this didn't just pop up out of a vacuum, like you were driving down the road and out of the clear blue it just suddenly up and became like this. Any history to it? Very recent motor swap perhaps? Has it EVER run since that motor has been in it?

One of these things is not like the other.

Check your fuel pump relay. The fuel pump may not be running until it builds oil pressure.

Also, if it is a 350 engine, you have a 5.7L. Just so you know.
Do the above and hopefully you will find your problem.

Probably not the FP relay, since it "has gas". If it has a relay, which would be, if it has an electric pump.
Could easily be the pump however, if it's an in-tank pump.
It'd be helpful to know what induction the car had; either "crossfire" injection (TBI), or carb.

I have a 90 and the oil-pressure sender acts just like a fuel-pump relay bypass. When there is sufficient oil pressure, the fuel pump is supplied power from the oil pressure sender. This can mask a bad relay since the car will start once oil pressure builds allowing the fuel pump to run.
