Axle/Gears: stock (for now)

but its important.
am i supposed to install the pistons in the same order as shown by the firing order diagram? oh and its a 305 SBC.

please don't jump down my throat, i've never built an engine before.

appreciate the input

Doesn't matter what order you install them, only that you install them in the proper place and orientation.

I typically do a bank at a time - saves turning the engine back and forth on the engine stand.

do one side of the motor at a time.. go down the row.. just make sure the bearings are on correct.. if applicable, put the pistons in the same hole that they came out of..

take your time and i would suggest getting a book on how to do rebuilds and such.. like: "how to build a small block chevy"

If the engine is bored and honed the machinist would have labeled your pistons for you. If you're putting back in old pistons you pretty much NEED to put them back in the same holes they came out of. Make sure they are in "right", and not spun 180* (know what I mean?)
