Engine Randomly Dies...Starts right back up with starting fluid???

I might be buying a Camaro Z28 305tpi with a 6 speed swapped in. Well, it will drive great for a few while (5-10 miles), then it will die. Then if you spray it with starting fluid and it starts right back up and runs great for a while again and the process repeats. What could be causing this?

Fuel Filter is new. I dont see why a fuel pum pwould be spuratic though.

TPI has a throttle body. It is TPI as posted above. I am not sure there are any codes. I dont think there are.

well...I would try a fuel pump pressure test 1st thing. Its not unusual for one to act that way. Also before she dies does it run rough or just drop off like turnin the key off?
