Choosing performance Cam on CCC-carb (E4ME)
Hi there..
I am going to buy a new performance cam for my stock 305 engine.
I have some build up plans for my engine but not too much.
I have almost all of my build up plan ready but I think I still need some advice on choosing a Camshaft.
I have a 1987 305 Engine with roller cam and this CCC-controlled q-jet carb.
Will I get big problems choosing a cam that is not computer compatible?
I am using summit racing a lot, and are satisfied with them. But when I look on their site after a cam that is computer compatible I don't find much to choose between... I have listed a few cams I am thinking of:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...1&autoview=sku
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku
As you can see I am thinking of something around 460 lift....
Also this lobe sepereation. Should it be around 112?....And what will happend to my computer after I change in to one if this cam's`??..Would the computer run the system perfect or will I get trouble on my engine??
Do I need another chip on my ECM?....Please help me cause I am not good at this stuff...
I have also a plan changing in to headers from Hooker Headers.
I was thinking of the 2055HKR Headers...This Link:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=HOK-2055HKR
I have a 3" cat-back system from before so I think the exhaust flow is OK.
I guess there are a lot of people thinking now: what about the heads??
My plan was to port the heads after a while but not in the first time.
Thinking of just Cam and headers now...
Please help me out...I need as much advise and tips as possible.
Thanks..

Look at the CRN-104224. It's the Crane 2032, a lot of TGO members have run it. The carb set up isn't as fussy about the cam as TBI or TPI is. Be sure to replace the valve springs while you're at it - the stock springs would be overwhelmed by any of the cams mentioned.
Along with the headers, it should run really well. You might want a higher stall torque converter, though, something in the 2000-2500 range.

Okay...I have thought about choosing this cam before but since it is made for 350 engine i wasn't sure but I guess it will also fit a 305...
Then I think my setup will be:
New cam (Crane 2032)
Headers (Hooker 2055HKR)
New valve springs, retainers +++
I will also buy this torque converter after a while
What valve springs should I choose?..Just a Crane valve spring kit from Summit?..Is that ok??...

if you are spending the money on headers, go for the 1 3/4" primaries.

I think the primary tube diameter on the 2055HKR is okay on my 305.
They are about 1 5/8" and that sound more good for my 305.
If we are talking 350 engine then I agree to what you saying impaled

The 2032 looks like a good cam choice to me.
1 5/8" headers are fine for a 350 too.
