tring to find find some cast iron heads with these specs so far have come up empty if any one could help or point in the right direction that would be great. It would be for a 350 block year 79.

Re: heads

Any reason why you want those specific specs? 170 intake ports are teeny tiny, but 2.02/1.160 valves are big. Seems like a bit of a mismatch. Did somebody who "knows their stuff" recommend these specs?

That sounds like an old stock fuelie head or an entry level aftermarket head of an old design. I wouldn't recommend following that path.

Re: heads

edelbrock has a top end kit with those spec heads and i'm trying to save money without having to get aluminum heads. if you know something else that will work with that cam/intake i'm all ears.

Re: heads

So basically you have that kit, without the heads, so you want heads to use in that application?
Or do you not have the kit yet at all?

Re: heads

how much are you looking to spend on the heads? the only stock head that are worth a **** are the vortec heads..u could pick up some patriot performance heads pretty cheap about 800 bucks...good for a fun lil street motor....

The cam in that Edelbrock kit is a peaky, no-torque paperweight. You can, and should, do much better.

Heads & intake:

Cam:
Comp XE274 flat tappet hydraulic.

Assuming proper compression, easily over 400 HP, and will be much more street friendly.

Re: heads

There we go. Don't bother buying edelbrocks kits. They are great at marketing and poor at putting together combos. They make excellent intake manifolds, end of list
Five7 kids idea is a good accurate one that's been done to death (a good thing in this case). Proven time and time again.

I have that cam, along with a set of 200cc/64cc World heads, Edelbrock RPM intake, and a 750 Holley. Its a VERY good combo, and a great street cam. Sounds nice and has some lope, but still has good manners and makes lots of torque starting around 1800 or so in my 350.
