Re: wierd engine problem
alright did some research on the internet for a few hours trying to see if anything would come up and i found this
it had the same symptoms as mine it would start and run fine but when it was hot it wouldnt start and was pouring gas into the engine it was said to confuse many people and the solution was that the coolent sensor was bad and when it got hot it would cause the fuel not to go into a closed loop and just let gas pour into the engine
the reason i post this is does this sound like it could be a the reason or does it sound to good to be true

Re: wierd engine problem
I suppose it sounds feasable. I had a simaliar problem with a '90 Honda Accord, Yeah I know its a different animal but. If I opened the door and let the hot air out for a few minutes it would start. Turned out the parts counter guys at the Honda dealership were all to familiar with this. The Honda had a Main Relay located under the dash board and when it got old it would warp internally, work properly in moderate temps. but close up the car and pour on some sun and it would not connect the ign. to the distributor.

Re: wierd engine problem
yea i installed it today because when i went to buy the part it was only $15 so i thought why not give it a shot and till now it seems to be better the real test will come tomorrow when it sits in the hot sun because we already got the engine up to temp and it still starts fine without the smell of gas

Re: wierd engine problem
Wild story. our cars are getting old and they are telling it on us. I wonder if the gas tank vent is stopped up and is filling the engine with vapors giving the MAP sesor a false reading. I have seen charcoal canister filter on the battom stop up and the engine sucked charcoal into the intake manifold. Would be easy to check by leaving the gas cap loose while parked in the sun.
