Because your alternator is not charging for some reason.
I just took some pics of what it looks right. AS you can see there are wires that ain't even hooked up.

What do you think?
_______
I brought this car a few months back and here the last few weeks the Choke has been on havent drove it cuz i am not sure what it is..

The 'choke' light is actually the 'alternator' light - it comes on when the alternator is not charging. What does the voltage read on the dash when the engine is running? It should be above 14V
it doesn't show anything on the dash. other then choke (my dash just stopped working).
well, i am putting the car in the shop wed so they can see what's going on there. Could there be a bad wire to the alt?

If your dash stopped working, you probably have a short.
Check the voltage at the battery when its running with a voltmeter. Should be very close to 14.

ok, it says nothing, the car was on but when it's off it doesn't do anything, My speed one doesnt work, As you can see in the pictures, it shows nothing and the choke is on.

check your "gauges" fuse.
alright, how do i know the gauges fuse? lol

On my '86 it's a red 10A fuse almost in the middle of the box. There's not that many fuses, it wouldn't hurt to pull one at a time and check to see if it's blown.
how can you tell if its blown or not tho?

The fuse on my 86 t/a is labelled "gauges" but you can just pull them all and check them one by one. It should be a red (10).

Not related to the choke, but that's the wrong fan for your car. You need one that pulls air through the radiator when the fan turns the same direction as the engine.
You also need a fan/radiator shroud.
I've got both in great shape if you're interested.

Not for nothing but why isnt that the right fan for the car ? Isnt that a stock piece ? Looks the same as the one i got on my 84.Originally Posted by five7kid

Look at the blades. When that fan turns the same direction as the engine, it will (sort of) blow air forward. Those fans were used on serpentine belt engines, which drove the water pump off of the back side of the belt, which is the opposite direction as the engine (reverse rotation water pump). f-bodies never had engine-driven fans with the serpentine belt set-up, so that fan probably came off of a pickup or van.
Freak, with the air cleaner on, can't tell from your photos if the unconnected wire is the choke wire or not. If you've verified it is, and the vehicle-side of that wire ever shorted to engine or chassis, you've blown the "choke heater" fuse as well - makes for some weird behavior.

the car is going into the shop wed to get all of that fix. And the fan is the right one on there, because when the car is on, trust me you can feel the air from it.
not really worried about the fan right now eventho im glad u did bring that up.
im worried about the choke because i dont want to go somewheres and my car blows up so im getting that fix tomorrow.
I got it off of an 85 trans am with an 305 v8 motor cuz when i got the car it needed a fan cuz it got a hold of my radiator and had to get a new so i went to the junk yard and got it out of a 85 trans am so i know it goes to it...

Regardless of where you got it from, it is not the right fan. 20+ year-old cars in a junk yard can very easily have the wrong parts on them.Originally Posted by CamaroFreak2008

Well, it does do the job for right now, i got a whole winter to get new things for the car. Which a new fan and a new radiator, new plugs, and other things.. I a just getting the big things fixed right now. I know having a fan is a good thing but right now i want to know why my car says choke and a few other things.
I notice when the choke light came on, my radio just stop working i pushed the fuses in all the way it came on again, but as soon as i turn the car back on, it never lit back up?
----------
yea no kidding, I actually traded a computer for this car, And would like to see this car to be put on the road.. I mean it does run and drive well just has issues lol, Nothing serious i hope, but i will find out more in the next few days.
