305 won't stay running
I have a 87 Camaro sports coupe with a 305. The only way I can get it to run is if I let it sit for a while. After 10-15 min it will run but only for like 1 min. then I have to wait another 10-15 minutes. What's the deal

It seems like it idles fine. But usually I have to crank it over for a minute. I mean sometimes it will start up right up but not usually

Have you checked your timing? Maybe something to do with the fuel...pump? Somebody smarter will chime in I'm sure.

Firing order is good. May be the fuel pump. I'll probably replace it. Do you think it could be a vacuum leak?

I meant what is your timing set at? Also, I could be wrong, but if you had a vacuum leak, it wouldn't idle that great.

Well it seems to be idleing fine. And I have no idea about the timing. But if the timing was wrong it wouldn't run at all. Right?

The fuel pump is hydrolic... I havent had one go bad before. You probably have a vac leak for your carb needs rebuilt... How does the fuel filter look? have you checked the PCV valve??

Re: 305 won't stay running
Ok. I figured out what the problem was. A clogged fuel line.
but now I have a new problem. It doesn't want to run it gear. It will idle in gear fine but as soon as I give it gas it dies. I think the carburetor is bad. What do you think
Fuel pump is new by the way

it might need a rebuild... I have a few CCQJET's laying around. One good one and one that needs a rebuild.

But I did rebuild it. It ran fine for a while, then I had this problem. I guess it's one of those one problem after another situations.

The 1987 models had an in-tank electric pump as well as the mechanical (not "hydraulic") pump mounted on the engine. It's pretty common for the in-tank to fail, and the mechanical not being able to suck through the failed electric pump enough to keep the engine supplied.
That doesn't fit all of your symptoms, but it does some. How confident are you in the carb rebuild job you did?
