Re: running after turning key off

It the fan. Its momentum causes the dc motor to become a dc generator, back feeding power to what ever you tapped it into, my guess would be some kinda of "hot in run" source thus powering everything in that circut. When the fan looses enough speed it cant make enough power to keep it running. I bet if you turned the key off on the freeway the car would run indefinetly, untill you slowed down enough that there wasnt enough wind to spin the fan.

Re: running after turning key off

that is what you call dieseling.

what is occuring is that there is still some fuel in the chamber after you turn off the ignition (somehow or another) and that fuel ignites by other means than the spark plugs.

Re: running after turning key off

its weird because i just started it and turned it off and it turned off fine... the fan never did that before... plus i tapped it into the fan fuse in the fuse box inside hard line like always

Re: running after turning key off

The stock set up used a relay, this would isolated the circuits from any back feeding.

Re: running after turning key off

gotcha.. so basically i just need to hook up a relay to the fan switch and i shouldn't have the problem anymore.

Re: running after turning key off

A car can diesel if the idle is set too high as well I believe.

Re: running after turning key off

my old motor did that when it was hot because of carbon buildup setting fuel off...and being carbed that meant it kept pumping....
