head swap--- Please Help!
I have a 350 ready to to put in my 83 z28. I have a lg4 in the car now. I've read several threads saying the the lg4 heads work alot better than stock 350 heads (882 heads). I just put new head gaskets on the 350 with the 882 heads, should I pull the 882's off and put the lg4 heads on? I just put the head gaskets on tonight, the motor is still on the stand, is it ok to reuse the head gasket if i do change the heads?

You might be ok. Inspect the gasket very carefully and make sure they are still very clean. The safest way to go about it is to replace the gaskets anyway, but you may be able to get away as long as there are no marks in the gasket and sealing areas.

Apeiron is correct if you decide to change the heads. Should change the gaskets anyway (You only want to do the job once)

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to stick with the 882 heads on the 350 for now, just incase theres a problem with the 350 when i put it in and try starting it. I'll have the 305 complete (minus carb) ready to go back in.

You'd really be better off with the LG4 heads. The 882s are some of the worst of the worst.

They're low-flowing with huge compression-killing chambers and thin castings that are prone to cracking.
